Neil McPhail, B.Sc, Dip I.R.
Neil McPhail has over 28 years experience in employment relations including working as an Advocate for the Canterbury Employers' Association and as Managing Consultant for Employers' Consultants Limited.
A director of McPhail Gibson & Zwart Ltd, Neil has extensive experience in employment law matters having negotiated numerous individual and collective agreements, and has regularly represented employers in both the Employment Relations Authority and the Employment Court as well as assisting numerous employers in Mediation hearings.
Neil has been involved in employment law through four major legislative changes.
In particular Neil has had wide-ranging experience in the retail and wholesale sectors, and also works with a diverse range of employers including local authorities, manufacturers and in the tertiary education sector.
When Neil is not representing employers, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children around their lifestyle block in Allandale, water-skiing, watching rugby (the Crusaders), and running.

Raewyn Gibson, LL.B
Raewyn Gibson has been involved for approximately 19 years representing employers in employment related matters. Originally employed by the Wellington Regional Employers' Association in 1987, Raewyn joined Employers' Consultants Limited in 1991, before becoming a Director of McPhail Gibson & Zwart Ltd.
Raewyn has extensive experience in representing employers in the Employment jurisdiction including advocacy at Mediation hearings, Employment Relations Authority Investigative Meetings and in the Employment Court. Raewyn has been involved in the negotiation of both company based and multi-employer collective agreements.
She is also involved in providing advice to employers on employment related issues and has a practical approach towards dealing with employment relations issues which comes from her experience in dealing with all range of issues both at work sites and in more formal settings.
When away from the office, Raewyn spends her weekends on Banks Peninsula and supporting her beloved Otago rugby team.

Peter Zwart, LL.B M.A. (Hons)
Peter Zwart has worked for some 19 years as an Advocate representing employers in matters such as agreement (individual and collective) negotiations and dispute resolution. His pragmatic approach to employment law is equally at home in the courtroom dealing with grievances or injunctions, or strategic planning in the Boardroom. Peter's skills cover the full range of employment relations issues.
His experience includes contract/agreement negotiation in a wide range of industries. His emphasis in industrial relations is pre-emptive rather than reactive with a preference for early involvement in all employment problems rather than acting as an ambulance at the bottom of the cliff.
Away from the office Peter is enjoying the freedom that comes with having children living away from home. Sailing fills some of the available spare time and planning when to sail next fills the majority of what's left.

Amanda Munting-Kilworth, LL.B., B.A.
Amanda Munting-Kilworth joined the team at MGZ on 18 January 2010.
Amanda qualified as lawyer in 1994. Between 1994 and 2001 Amanda practised as a solicitor both in Christchurch and in London before taking time off to raise her three children.
Initially Amanda practiced law in Christchurch for Wolfe Cadenhead Stone (who subsequently merged with Lane Neave) gaining invaluable experience and being exposed to a wide variety of law, including employment law. Amanda then went on to practice law in London gaining additional experience as in-house legal counsel.
As a mother of three young children, Amanda currently works part-time, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Carey Poulter
As our Administration Manager, Carey is responsible for the day to day running of the office, a role which she has held since the formation of McPhail Gibson & Zwart Ltd in 1995.
Carey undertakes the preparation of accounts, day to day typing of correspondence, legal submissions etc, as well as the compilation of our monthly news-sheet "The Advocate", promotional material, and flyers. An integral part of her role is nagging the rest of the team to ensure they are doing what they are supposed to be doing!
Prior to commencing with McPhail Gibson & Zwart Ltd, Carey was employed by the Canterbury Employers' Association / Employers Consultants Limited for 13 years in a variety of secretarial / administrative support roles.
Away from the office Carey is kept busy providing a taxi service for her teenage son. When time permits she also enjoys walking, reading and knitting.
